More nesting coot's

Today I spent a pleasant, if cool couple of hours at the lake watching the nesting coot's, I just sat there
camera in hand for a solid 2 hours, & by doing so I actually saw a lot more than I usually do, after about 20 mins a lot of the birds became accustomed to my presence so much so that a moor-hen started a courtship display,  bowing - raising its wings & flashing its white tail feathers, I don't know if its the male or female that displays but it was nice to watch anyway.
A chaffinch settled in the branches above the coot's nest allowing me chance to grab a couple of shots before he disappeared into the undergrowth, the coot's are still nest building, fetching twigs & dry leaves- ah nothing like comfort. After leaving the side of the lake I spotted what I thought was a Treecreper until it ran down the tree which meant it could only be a nuthatch, by now it had clouded over making photographing it even more difficult .

I hope you have enjoyed your visit
come back soon

IT'S THE WOODY N TURTLE SHOW?

Woody made an appearance, all be it a brief one yesterday. I heard him drumming while I was watching a pair of coot's nesting, so off I went in totally the wrong direction - funny how sound travels around a hollow, after my brief excursion I finally met up with a couple of other watchers who kindly pointed me in the right direction, 2 shots and off he went ( camera shy ! ) well at least I know what to look for now.

The coot's are nesting well, I have enjoyed watching them over the last few days one fetching n carrying while the other sits & tidy's up the nest - constantly rearranging twigs & bit's of reed it really is nice to watch.

I had been told that there where terrapins in the lake but I didn't think they where this big, it must be the size of a dinner plate!

some of my best shots of the squiggles.

I hope you enjoyed your visit, by for now :)
