From PIGEON'S to BUTTERFLY'S

Well the coot's are still building which isn't surprising when you watch them for long enough, you see the grebe's are nesting just next door, and while mum and dad coot are away, they nick some of there twigs!!!
"Naughty Grebe's "
Mr and Mrs grebe are getting bolder by the day one scared me when it surfaced no more than 10ft away from the edge of the lake, I don't know how far it had swum but I hadn't seen  until it popped up out of the water
Moving away from the lake I was looking for the woodpecker ( which I didn't see all day) when I spotted a butterfly feeding - I think, high up on a willow tree? please correct me if I am wrong
Other sightings for the day where an acrobatic blue tit, a very puzzled pigeon and a curious gold finch

I forgot to mention the rather dapper mallard
I hope you enjoyed your visit

More nesting coot's

Today I spent a pleasant, if cool couple of hours at the lake watching the nesting coot's, I just sat there
camera in hand for a solid 2 hours, & by doing so I actually saw a lot more than I usually do, after about 20 mins a lot of the birds became accustomed to my presence so much so that a moor-hen started a courtship display,  bowing - raising its wings & flashing its white tail feathers, I don't know if its the male or female that displays but it was nice to watch anyway.
A chaffinch settled in the branches above the coot's nest allowing me chance to grab a couple of shots before he disappeared into the undergrowth, the coot's are still nest building, fetching twigs & dry leaves- ah nothing like comfort. After leaving the side of the lake I spotted what I thought was a Treecreper until it ran down the tree which meant it could only be a nuthatch, by now it had clouded over making photographing it even more difficult .

I hope you have enjoyed your visit
come back soon

IT'S THE WOODY N TURTLE SHOW?

Woody made an appearance, all be it a brief one yesterday. I heard him drumming while I was watching a pair of coot's nesting, so off I went in totally the wrong direction - funny how sound travels around a hollow, after my brief excursion I finally met up with a couple of other watchers who kindly pointed me in the right direction, 2 shots and off he went ( camera shy ! ) well at least I know what to look for now.

The coot's are nesting well, I have enjoyed watching them over the last few days one fetching n carrying while the other sits & tidy's up the nest - constantly rearranging twigs & bit's of reed it really is nice to watch.

I had been told that there where terrapins in the lake but I didn't think they where this big, it must be the size of a dinner plate!

some of my best shots of the squiggles.

I hope you enjoyed your visit, by for now :)

A few shots from the archive

Today didn't pan out as I had hoped, yesterday I had my first appointment with a psychiatrist, who increased my SSRI's  by 50%, which has left me felling drained & listless, still there is always next week.
As the title say's, these are from earlier this year and I don't know why I haven't posted them before, it's funny   how the robin's always look so good, but my favourite is the gull tap dancing on the water I hope you enjoy them
